The People Directorate at HES leads our employee focussed People Strategy that will help us deliver our heritage, culture, education and environmental goals by finding and retaining the best people and enabling them to be truly brilliant. We are responsible for delivering core people services, providing professional support and guidance to our leaders; equipping our people with the right skills and capabilities to excel in their roles today and in the future; creating an employee experience which people want to be part of in an environment where inclusion, health and wellbeing are part of everyday life.

We develop best practice as a good and fair employer, supporting our employees in all people related matters whilst maintaining good employee relations. We are a strong advocate of Wellbeing and have grown our approach over the past number of years achieving external commendation for our programmes, which have included Gold Health Working Lives, Carer accreditation, Living Wage accreditation and Youth Guarantee.

You will work closely with the wider People Team and Wellbeing Working groups in partnership with the other Business Partners within the Team. Operating at a senior level, you will be required to build strong relationships across all Directorates and across the wider organisation, including actively participating in senior manager forums.

You will lead the organisation’s Wellbeing and Engagement programmes within our ambitious People Strategy and will be responsible for managing the overall implementation and development of the strategy. A key competent of this will be working with People Team colleagues and organisational leaders to understand wellbeing & engagement issues within their teams and to demonstrate the value to our people of driving wellbeing and engagement.
